As a native Floridian, I have always been enamored with the citrus groves that once flourished in our state. When I was young, there were so many orange groves and citrus trees growing in neighbors’ yards that we never had to buy oranges. The property that Disney World now occupies in Orlando was mainly groves until I was in high school. Today, many of these groves have sadly been lost to development and disease. I miss them dearly, especially the sweet fragrance of real orange blossoms (not the kind you buy in a bottle). It was these reminicenses that served as the inspiration for I Smell Orange Blossoms.
